wanderlust.

 I have a love for cities that I have yet to experience. When I look outside my small-town window that overlooks a side road, one word springs to mind: wanderlust. Growing up in Rock Spring, Wyoming has left me yearning for more from this world. My love for fashion has fueled my dreams and altered my perspective on life. Because of fashion, I feel changed.  

            I believe fashion will provide me with opportunities to reach my dreams. There are so many things in this world I want to experience: running to catch the subway; being introduced to so many new people that my hand goes numb; sleeping for two straight days because of jet-lag; satisfying my passion for fashion (cliché, I know). Knowing that I can leave, and return to big ole’ Wyoming if need be, is the most comforting part of my journey. My family and lifelong friends that I have here have given me the courage to break from the mold and do something totally crazy. They have given me the confidence to continue down this path that I am slowly paving for myself. I want to say thank you to those people who have seen my transformation from a prospective, shy elementary teacher to a burgeoning big-city girl, and have encouraged me in spite of my inconsistencies along the way. Because they believe I can live a life like Lauran Conrad, I do too.

            Although I want to move far away, I will miss Wyoming. The warm people and breathtaking sunsets will always have a place in my heart.

Below is an outfit I wore recently to a City and Colour concert, an outfit I would never wear in Wyoming because, well, of the leather leggings, booties, and red lipstick. I’m excited for day I can wear an outfit as fun as this one and not feel like I am being stared at. Then, after it’s all said and done, I can come back to Wyo and go on an adventure with my dad in an oversized sweatshirt and baggy sweatpants. 

Wanderlust: the desire to be absolutely anywhere other than where you currently are.
