Truth is I wear sweatpants in public more often than I should and use dry shampoo way more than recommended. My weekends consist of laundry and movies on my couch. 95% of my life isn't instagram worthy.

Throughout the years I've loved to share my love for fashion with you all. Although sporadic I've always come back to sharing memories and outfits. Sometimes my little creative outlet can get a little defeating. In a world with where comparison is just a click away it can make you feel like your life is less than average.

I think everyone battles with the social media dilemma of staying present but still connecting with friends you don't see everyday. I'm not the expert by any means, but when I am feeling the social media blues I often try to take a step back. To not put pressure on myself to take the perfect pictures or make sure my page looks aesthetically pleasing. Sometime you just have to put up that cute picture with your BF making goofy faces.

I had been reaching my new year goals of posting weekly but I started to play the comparison game with other talented and creative bloggers and I let it get the best of me. The blues have past and my best friend of the blog has pulled me back.

lazy.

 

Let's be real, somedays you wake up and you just wanna be lazy. When this happens I wake up and search in my closet for a comfy outfit. I'm an adult now and unlike my 8 a.m. class attire, I can't go to work in my sweatpants, unfortunately.

In the summer you can see me wearing this jumpsuit every other week. Instead of just adding a jacket or cardigan over it, I decided to put this high slight cream v-neck sweater over the top. I added my light brown high heeled booties to elevate my look.Layering is a perfect way to make those summer outfits winter appropriate. Hopefully, I will be able to show you my methods in future posts.

business casual.

TBH this outfit isn't business casual. When I spotted this mauve duster, I conjured up all the different outfits and talked myself into buying it in about 5 seconds flat.

Living in a small town shopping is difficult. Don't get me wrong, I find my ways but, there definitely a lack of on trend items and quality.When I was growing up I never wanted to shop in my small town from fear of having the same outfit as someone else. I feel I have grown out of this, especially when combined with a healthy dose of online shopping.

That being said, I purchased this mauve duster at my local T.J. Maxx and I still love it. I paired it with my navy embroidered T-Shirt, because the lining of this duster is navy blue (hint: navy blue and mauve make an exceptional pair).Then I went very casual with a dark wash pair of jeans and short booties.

Mauve is my favorite shade of pink because it always seems to look the best with my skin tone, I'm bias I know.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and my week of pink continues. S/O to the readers who take time to read this sometimes cringe worthy blog of mine.

For some reason I always get outfit inspo from Valentine's Day. It might be because I love the idea of getting dressed up and going out with your lover or that my inner girly girl gets the spotlight for a quick second. Whatever it is, I always seem to get in the Valentine's Day spirit.

I always choose pink over red, not for any particular reason. Today, I wanted to make a small nod to my week of pink. I paired my favorite blazer with an embroidered T-shirt for a easy but sophisticated look.

My light pink beret was added to give my look, a little bit of a Parisian vibe. When I wear my beret hats, I always tend to tilt them to one side. This is the best way for me to wear them personally, if I try it any other way I tend to look like a chef. If you are unsure about this trend, try this trick to see if it can convince you to add a beret to your outfit, before summer is upon us.

Here's to February and a week of pink.

In Wyoming, we have winter for 10 out of 12 months of the year, and people choose to live here lolz. I am always looking for cute jackets and coats to wear with the variety of different outfits I wear on a day to day basis.

Recently, I have been scrounging the sale tabs on all my favorite boutiques. A couple weeks ago I found this cute number on sale. I mainly have been pairing this mauve coat with my sporty closet items. I love to wear it to the gym in the mornings and on the weekends when I am running errands.

It's a bit puffy, which makes it cute and functional. With Valentine's Day around the corner everyone needs a little bit of pink in their life.

Hey, that ryhmed. While working in a high end boutique last year I fell in love with an Eileen Fisher quilted jean jacket. Although I thought of the thousands of outfits I could wear, I fell straight outta love when I saw the hefty price tag.

P.S. Love Eileen Fisher, her brand is very eco conscious and heading towards the sustainable fashion future we need. I just cannot afford these beautiful clothes at my current stage in life.

So when I was scrolling through Instagram in the fall, I stopped mid scroll and saw this dream boat of a coat. At first I thought it would be difficult to make outfits but I have worn this coat almost every day for the past few months. If your looking for a unique coat that can be worn on the weekends and to work, this is the perfect find.

aye, aye, sailor.

The sailor cap trend hit at the end of summer 2017. At first I was very reluctant to try this trend, on fashion bloggers and models the hats look so sophisticated but when I put one on my head, the decision is still out.

I have a large head, so finding hats that fit are difficult. Although there are plenty out there, as you can tell from my insta. Sailor caps are a fun statement piece that can add a different vibe to an otherwise boring outfit. Above I paired my light gray sailors cap with a light pink turtle neck, this was a simple winter outfit that can be worn to work or to brunch on the weekend. This spring you can pair a sailor hat with a t-shirt dress, a simple v-necks, or a romper for a night out with the girls.

2018.

2017 came and went, and now its January 21st and I don't know how it's already 3 weeks into the new year? Life continues to speed up at an alarming rate for myself, currently 23 going on 63.

Usually I always do a New Year's post and a birthday post for my blog on my current life state. Often I relish in the past, choosing to focus on the what if's and the could be's. But, I've decided to focus on the months to come instead of the moments gone by. This year I wrote my New Year's Resolutions out in bullet point format.

• Blog more, social media less. Instead of countless hours of mindless scrolling, I'd rather fill my Instagram feed up with more blog posts for my few readers. 
• Continue my fitness journey. 
• Pay off my credit card/don't impulse buy clothing anymore. Believe me they coincide.
• Stay in touch. With my friends and family all over the map, this will always be at the top of my priorities. 

Although rather common, I've never actually wrote out my goals. So I will let you know how it goes. Here's to more #ootd and working towards my 2k18 goals.

Before summer could sneak by Kirsi and I decided to make our #kirsiandalex trip of 2017. We found super cheap tickets to San Diego on the web which inspired us to be California gurls for the weekend.

The trip was super laid back and all we really had planned was to go to the beach. I found this adorable jumpsuit at Urban, which Kirsi purchased for my b-day. I packed mostly beach clothes and of course my gray jumpsuit to be cute and comfy while walking around downtown SD.

The weather was perfect, so was the food. I ate the best fish tacos in my whole entire life. So if you're every wondering if jumping on a plane to a random destination for the weekend sounds like a good idea, do it.

In late July I jumped on a plane with my fashion gals to explore the windy city. With life's craziness we haven't gotten to spend much time together since we had graduated.

When packing I tried to pick comfy/easy outfits that I could walk around in all day but still be fashionable. I loved my white converses they were perfect for our long days crossing sidewalks. You may recognize the blue and white stripped jumper from my nc post, told you I was obsessed with it. The blue continued throughout the weekend with my midi dress and white/blue stripped romper. I would 10 out of 10 recommend getting an bandana, I literally add a bandana to my outfit everyday. Find really cute ones here, here, or here.

I'm so excited that I got to go on a weekend getaway with my girls. We did a Chicago Go card for our trip and with the price was able to see a lot of the main attractions for a decent price. We went to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago and it was by far my most favorite.

Already planning my next girls weekend and cannot wait to share with my Cali trip next.
