wy-home-ing.

Wyoming is full of some of the most kind-hearted people on the planet.  My most favorite Wyoming custom is waving to oncoming traffic in remote areas whether going camping or out on the lake, because no matter what the other person is waving back as well. Our state is bigger than most but the population is smaller than many. Growing up I hated the secluded feeling that Wyoming gives you from city life and anything fast paced but as I pack my car, I can't help but take in the beauty that Wyoming has always provided.

Wyoming has harsh winter months but the summer months that follow make up for every snowstorm and rainy day. Adventures are easy to come by whether that be hiking, biking, or swimming in the lake, the sunshine in Wyoming never disappoints. Although many Wyoming folk want to put up a tough front with their big Ford trucks or cowboy boots, we take care of Wyoming. Respecting the beauty of our state so that future generations can experience the unique land formations and Wyoming ways.

When finishing up my degree this spring I had a class that talked about sustainability in the fashion industry. For those of you who are wondering there is no sort of sustainability standards set in the fashion industry right now. Like me I’m sure many of get rid of clothing, whether that be throwing them away or giving them to Goodwill, to make room for your new items. Every year textiles are one of the main items thrown into landfills around the country. After years of this bad habit the landfills are beginning to be overflowing with garbage, much of it being textiles.

This year during the week of Earth Day H&M had a very large campaign on their sustainability movements within their company. They are doing several things to reduce their impact on the environment but one thing I think is rad, is their garment collecting program. H&M will accept any unwanted clothing no matter what condition in any of their stores. With this discarded clothing they will rewear, reuse, and recycle it, keeping it from going to waste in landfills.

So although I am not the greenest person on the entire planet, I respect the push that H&M is making within the fashion industry. Being able to experience the adventures that Wyoming provides makes me admire what H&M is doing and continue to be a loyal customer.

So what inspired my hippie post? Currently one of my favorite fashion icons behind Man Repeller, Leandra Medine has paired up with Bloglovin' and H&M to present a contest for fashion bloggers around the globe. To participate I had to styling an outfit with an item from H&M that is old, new, borrowed, or blue. Turning this opportunity into a platform to inform my readers about H&M's garment collecting program. Wish me luck *winky face emoji*.
